介绍：Rio Hondo Preparatory School was founded in 1964 as a logical extension of Kare Youth League, and that special relationship continues to vitalize and characterize the school. It was uniquely conceived as a place with families in mind where students of average ability can become fully prepared for college entrance.

The foundation for Rio Hondo began in the late 1950’s before the school was actually formed. Several young men and women in Kare Youth League, formerly Boys' and Girls’ Christian League, began the groundwork for the school. These young people organized a student government, established traditions, raised thousands of dollars and poured countless hours into a school which most of them would never have the privilege of attending. Their purpose was to provide a learning environment for students who had high aspirations for their lives. The group they started, Rio Hondo Academy continues to function as the sponsor of high school student activities for Rio Hondo Prep and Kare Youth League.

Rio Hondo Prep is accredited by the Western Association of schools and Colleges. RHP offers a full college-prep curriculum. Math is offered from algebra through calculus. An intensive literature-based writing program is integrated into English classes. Camps in geology, astronomy and ecology supplement a complete program in science. The history curriculum is augmented by summer-long educational tours of the United Sates, Canada and Europe. A foreign language program is offered that includes Latin during Middle School. Finally a fine arts enrichment program is in place that stresses performances.

From sixth grade through high school, all students follow the college preparatory path while opportunities in music, drama, interscholastic sports government and social activities help to develop unique talents and provide a well-rounded learning experience.
